Room redesign or renewal on no budget, or just for a few pennies? Is it possible to redo your interior space on a zero budget? The answer, believe it or not, is a resounding yes. The approach is two-fold, as we'll see below.
The main idea is to creatively reuse or refurbish what you already have. Our furniture pieces may indeed look dated; for example, the finish or stain is perhaps cherry or rustic pine with visible knots. Try refinishing the old furniture in more contemporary white oak or wenge. You may have a coffee table that you are beginning to hate. You can easily cover the top in tiny ceramic tile or a white marble slab; maybe place roller wheels or swivel casters under the wood legs.
Also, your chairs may have the seat and back upholstered in what appears today as a hideous or kitsch fabric that's already partly worn or torn. By the way, it's quite easy to reupholster the old chairs in leather or imitation leather.
An old sofa or couch can come back to life with new or reupholstered throw pillows. Try using colourful pillows on a dreary monochrome sofa or couch.

The other approach, is to go on a scavenger hunt and pick up from the street curb discarded furniture and accessories. Indeed, there are a lot, especially in wealthier neighborhoods, where folks redo their interiors every four to five years. And these pieces are usually in a good shape, or perhaps require minimum intervention to look again like new. For example, most folks may throw away a large mirror once the glass breaks. You may pick it and have the mirrored glass changed; or, use the frame alone on a wall (Perhaps painting it in an odd colour, in order to contrast a stark wall).
A friend found a carved furniture door
on the curb and simply dusted it and hang it on the wall. It looked very
interesting. This is just an example. Let your imagination be your guide.
The room can be repainted perhaps in a two or three colour paint scheme. While, for the finishing touches, you may change the lamp shades of older lighting fixtures or table lamps: Perhaps by painting over the old lampshades (even black), or making your own from different materials. Last, you can make your own flower vase from various articles: to exhibit dry flowers or bamboo.
At any case, the internet is full of how-to videos, relative to refinishing or reupholstering furniture or redoing lamp shades. Most folks can easily handle this themselves, as a weekend project; while the tools required are inexpensive.
So there you have it. You can redo a room, or redo the interior design of the entire house, on a zero budget, or on practically no budget. Creativity is the key. And you'll be proud you did renew your space by yourself.
